September 2020 Step By Step Challenge
Welcome to this month’s Step by Step Blog Challenge! This challenge will:
1) Help with ideas to create digital scrapbooking layouts that are quick, but that may also challenge you to use new tools or techniques.
2) Challenge scrappers to get their mojo back for digital scrapping, as many had stepped away from this hobby for various reasons.
3) Provide an inspirational layout as a scraplift starting point to create their own page, and provide instructions for creating the page.
Each month during 2020 we will bring you a brand new Step by Step Challenge here on the blog. We are excited to host these challenges to help you in any way that we can with digital scrapbooking and preserving your memories.
As the name implies, this challenge will provide you with step by step instructions using a list of ingredients, that you must include on your challenge layout. Just as in cooking or baking, you need a list of ingredients and specific instructions to make a yummy recipe, so we will provide you with both, to help you create an amazing layout of your own, and perhaps teach you about a new tool or trick along the way.
CHALLENGE PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
Your layout must include everything in the list of ingredients posted in each month’s challenge. You may add more ingredients if you wish.
Your layout must be made using at least 80% of Dandelion Dust Designs’ products, so grab those DDD Kits from your stash.
After your page is completed, post it to one of the following places:
You must post your layout before 10:00pm PST on September 30, 2020.

The winner of the August 2020 Step by Step Challenge is Lorrie M. Congratulations, Lorrie!!!
LET’S GET STARTED
We will begin with this month’s inspiration layout from our amazingly talented Promotions Coordinator, Deb, using the Autumn Winds Collection. It is a gorgeous layout!
1 Patterned Paper | 1 Photo | 1 Frame | 1 Journal Card | 1 Grunge| 1 Ribbon | 1 Ribbon Circle or A Circular Element | 1 Arrow | 1 Bead Cluster with Leaves or an Individual Bead Stem or Something Similar + 2 Leaves | 2 Different Flowers | 1 Crinkle Twist or String | 1 Button or Brad
In whichever program you use to digitally scrapbook, open a 12″ x 12″ or 3600 x 3600 pixel layer and add your patterned paper as the background. Place your photo and frame next off center either direction on your layout. Grab the journaling card and tuck it under the frame/photo, so it lays slightly below the bottom of your frame.
Add your grunge from the side of your page, under the frame/photo and on the top of your journal card.
Let’s make the cluster next. Duplicate your bead cluster once and place one bead cluster at a slight angle and then place the second bead cluster at 180 degrees opposite the first bead cluster. If you are using an individual bead stem/something similar and individual leaves, group them together to create your own bead stem and place as directed above. Place one of your flowers on top of the bead stems and then place your second flower offset a bit from your first flower. Add your crinkle twist or a string next over the flowers. Add your ribbon over the center of the top flower and top with a brad or button.
Grab your arrow and place it where it works best on your layout. If you have a ribbon circle (like the gingham one in the inspiration LO) or whatever circle element you’ve chosen, tuck it under the cluster you made in the step above, moving it into a place that works with your page. Add journaling to the lower part of the journal card.
Your layout is ready for shadowing to be added, which you can do for everything above the background paper, except for the grunge layer which is typically not shadowed. Congratulations – you’ve just created your page for this challenge! Please don’t forget to post it.
One page will randomly be selected to win a $10 Gift Certificate to Dandelion Dust Designs’ Store at GingerScraps and the layout may be shared on our blog and social media accounts.
At the end of 2020, one lucky participant who completes at least 9 out of 12 Step by Step Challenges, will be offered a Guest Creative Team Spot for two months on our Creative Team in 2021.
* The monthly prize winner will be announced here on the blog on the 15th of each month.
