Cozy Corners: Summer Reading Chair

Doesn’t everyone have a specific corner in the house that changes its stripes when June arrives?
In the winter, that favorite chair is buried under three heavy blankets, a mountain of dark pillows, and a permanent layer of cozy, cold-weather denial.
But this week, it’s time for a seasonal stripping away.
Out go the heavy layers. In comes a single, lightweight cotton throw. Next, stack a few of those summer books you’ve been meaning to get to on the side table. Let’s be honest: they’ll probably end up in a messy pile on the floor the second the doorbell rings or someone knocks over a glass of iced tea, but hey—for five minutes, it looks gorgeous and ready.
Whether it’s for a slow afternoon by yourself or a chaotic but sweet storytime session with the littles, the space is waiting.
It isn’t perfectly styled. But that’s exactly the point. Our homes aren’t meant to be museum exhibits or backdrop sets for an endless stream of content (even if we are taking a picture of them right now!). They are meant to be lived in, spilled on, and thoroughly enjoyed. This corner doesn’t demand perfection; it just invites you to sit down, slow down, and stay a while.
